Triumph

Today I visited Playa del Carmens craziest shop! Imagine a place where you can buy a live size horse statue completely covered in mirror mosaic, or a bed that looks like a boat. Aah yes... a magical place where the roads of all the different interior trends meet in an explosion if glitzy photo frames, shabby chic napkin holders, marine style wooden figurines, and Maroccan stained glass lanterns... This place was overwhelmingly filled with all kinds of crap but despite that, you find yourself walking straight into something that you could seriously consider buying and it makes you feel like a fucking winner!
A feeling I basked in at the Sunday Bazar aswell; as I got my hands on this vintage genuine leather and suede poncho!

The elephant head covered in mirror mosaic is yours for just 7000 pesos!

A magical but ultimately pointless gift for a child?

No, you are not dreaming. This is in fact a "live" sized unicorn made out of cut sheet metal.
What I wouldn't give....

It's a bird cage, and a mirror, and a birdcage... And I actually bought one.

Yes. It's a chair. And yes, it is delightful but not very practical.

Why so worried? It's a result of the unique Mexican shopping experience.
You're constantly followed by a "personal shopper" who ushers you through the store.
They help you get things that you don't reach (which happens all the time) and they carry everything you pick out down to the cashier, which means no heavy shopping baskets but also constant surveillence...

Yes, this picture pretty much sums it up.
Lamp shades next to a disco horse, next to a unicorn, next to a bathtub, next to a pirate figure...
Who wants to go shopping?
